Project Overview

I work on the development team for CIM | Chartered Managers Canada, the professional body that grants the Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.) designation. My main piece of the platform is the membership system: how people join, how they renew, what they pay, and what happens automatically once they do.

The Challenge

Membership fees at CIM aren't one number. Each membership category has its own fee, and CIM is organized into chapters that each set their own pricing, so what a member pays depends on both their category and the chapter they belong to. Staff needed to manage those fees themselves rather than asking a developer every time one changed.

CIM also recognizes members with digital badges through Credly, and those badges needed to be issued automatically when someone joins or renews.

My Role

I developed the membership system: the fee settings staff manage in the admin, the join and renewal process that charges each member the right fee for their category and chapter, Stripe payments and receipts, and the Credly integration that issues a badge as soon as someone joins or renews.

Across the rest of the platform I also work on multi-tier application workflows, automated renewal reminders, event registration, CMS features, and gated access to academic resources for verified members.
