I design websites that are planned around your visitors and your goals, not around whatever template was on sale. Layout, hierarchy, typography, and the path from landing page to enquiry, all worked out before a line of code gets written.
Good website design is not decoration. It is deciding what a visitor sees first, what they understand within five seconds, and what they do next. I start every design by working out who is landing on the page and what they came for, then build the layout around that.
Because I also build what I design, the design decisions and the technical decisions get made together. Nothing needs translating between two people, and I can tell you early when an idea will be expensive to implement or slow on a phone, while it is still cheap to adjust. On bigger projects I am glad to work alongside a dedicated designer or an agency's design team and handle the build.
