Web Design in Whitby, Ontario
Websites, web development, and SEO for Whitby businesses, built by one developer who does both the design and the code.
A lot of Whitby households have someone commuting west every morning. That matters more for your website than it sounds. Your customers spend their working day surrounded by Toronto options, and when they do look for something closer to home they are usually doing it on a phone, in a spare minute, with very little patience for a site that makes them wait.
I'm Corby Wenzelbach. I design and build websites and web applications, and have been doing it for over a decade. I grew up in Oshawa and spent 25 years in Durham before moving east to Belleville.
If you are looking for a web designer in Whitby, a web developer who can handle the parts a template cannot, or SEO work on a Whitby site that is not bringing in enough qualified traffic, that is what I do.
Web Design and Development for Whitby Businesses
Whitby has grown quickly, and a lot of the businesses here are competing against companies in Toronto and Markham with far larger marketing budgets. The site that wins that fight is rarely the flashiest one. It is the one that loads fast on a phone, says clearly what the business does, and makes getting in touch obvious.
- Lead-focused business websites for Whitby companies
- Ecommerce stores with real payment processing and inventory you control
- Custom web applications built around how your operation actually runs
- Rebuilds for Whitby businesses that have outgrown a template or a builder
- Technical SEO and speed work for sites that are not earning their keep
Built properly rather than forced into a page builder when a custom approach makes more sense. If WordPress or Shopify genuinely is the right tool for your situation, I will build it there and tell you why.
The Whitby Businesses I Build For
Whitby's business base runs from long-established downtown independents through to the newer professional and trade companies that arrived with the housing growth north of Taunton.
- Trades and home services. Brooklin and north Whitby have a lot of newer housing and a lot of contractors chasing the same work. Speed on mobile and an unmistakable service area do more than any amount of visual polish.
- Professional practices. Accountants, lawyers, consultants, and clinics where the site's job is to establish credibility before the first phone call.
- Health and dental. Practices where new patient intake, forms, hours, and location carry most of the weight.
- Downtown Whitby retail and hospitality. Independents competing with chains and with the Toronto businesses their customers could just as easily drive to.
- Business-to-business suppliers. Sites where the visitor is a buyer doing research, so specifications, capability statements, and a quote request matter far more than a checkout.
Getting Found by Whitby Customers
The usual worry is that big-city firms will bury you. The harder problem is narrower than that: when someone in Whitby searches for what you sell, do you turn up at all, and does what they see give them a reason to stop scrolling?
That comes down to a few unglamorous things. Pages that finish loading before someone gives up. A Google Business Profile that is filled in and current rather than abandoned the week it was created. Reviews, which most local businesses badly underrate and which quietly decide who gets the call. And words written for someone in Whitby rather than for everyone in Ontario.
The site is my job. The profile and the reviews stay with you, and I would rather show you how to keep them up than bill you monthly for it.
How Working Together Actually Goes
One person designs it, writes the code, and answers your emails. Nobody is relaying your questions to someone else, and nothing gets lost between a designer and a developer who never spoke to each other.
It starts with a conversation about what you are trying to achieve and what you can spend. I'll tell you which parts are worth paying for and which are not, then quote a fixed number so you aren't watching a meter run. Search fundamentals are part of the build rather than something sold back to you afterwards. Most of it happens over video, though Whitby is an easy drive when a project genuinely calls for sitting in the same room. If budget is the first question, what a website costs breaks down what moves the number.

Whitby Questions
You are based in Belleville. Why hire you for a Whitby project?
Because I grew up in Oshawa and lived in Durham for more than 25 years. I know Whitby, I know how much it has changed, and I know what a local customer expects when a business website loads. The drive is about an hour when a project warrants meeting in person, and everything else runs over video calls.
How much does a website cost for a Whitby business?
It depends far more on what the site has to do than on how many pages it has. A straightforward business site that establishes credibility and brings in enquiries is a very different budget from an ecommerce store or a custom application. I will give you a real number after one conversation rather than a range designed to get you on a call.
Can you help my Whitby site rank better in local search?
Usually yes, though rarely by doing only one thing. Most local sites I look at have some mix of slow mobile pages, thin or missing service-area content, and a Google Business Profile that was filled in once and never touched again. I fix the on-site half and show you how to run the rest, because the two halves do not work independently.
Do you work with businesses in Brooklin and north Whitby?
Yes. Brooklin, north Whitby, and the newer developments above Taunton are all part of the same market in practice. A lot of the trades and home service companies working up there are competing for the same customers, and the site that loads fastest on a phone tends to win the call.
Should I use a page builder like Wix or Squarespace instead?
Sometimes, honestly. If you need a simple presence and want to edit it yourself with no ongoing developer, a builder can be the right answer and I will tell you so. Where they fall down is speed, custom functionality, and what happens when your needs outgrow what the platform allows. That is when a custom build stops being a luxury.
Do you only build new sites, or do you fix existing ones?
Both. A fair number of projects start as a rebuild of something slow, hard to edit, broken on mobile, or built by someone the owner can no longer reach. I will look at what you have and tell you honestly whether it is worth repairing or replacing, including when the honest answer is that your current site is fine.
